Why Should Indian Tribes Comply?

Have you noticed that the government is trying to get Indian tribes to comply with federal labor laws? The government's reasoning is that there are a lot of non-Indians employed by the Indian casinos and, therefore, the casinos should have to follow the same labor laws as other employers. However, what seems to be missing from that thought process is the fact that it doesn't match what other companies are doing.

I don't mean that companies aren't following federal labor laws. But if a company's headquarters are in another state and they have employees working in California, that company must follow California labor laws for their California employees. Taking that concept a step further, if people work in Indian casinos they are treated the same as anyone else working in that "state." So, it makes me wonder why the government feels non-Indians should be treated differently than Indians even though they are working in the same place. Okay, so the Indians would be treated the same but I think it's interesting that the government didn't feel the need to bring up labor laws before so many non-Indians were working on the reservations.
